Dr. Ranno and Dr. Sacchi both speak fluent English.

At Eye Vision they take care of patients with eye problems including refractive disorders, cataract, glaucoma, cornea, and retina diseases. Specific interest of our specialist are paediatric ophthalmology and eyelid and orbital condition.

After graduating in Medicine and Surgery, Dr Ranno and Dr Sacchi completed their Residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Milan.

Dr Sacchi completed his training working in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Rochester where he had the opportunity to work with prof. JV Aquavella, one of the most world renowned Ophthalmologist, and at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, University of Miami, where he worked with prof. RK Parrish in Glaucoma Service.

Dr Ranno completed his training attending the Agarwal’s Eye Hospital di Chennai (India). where he was trained in cataract surgery and at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, University of Miami, where he worked with Prof DT Tse, David T. Tse, director of Bascom Palmer’s ophthalmic plastic, orbital surgery and oncology service.

Dr Sacchi sub specialty is glaucoma and he is currently Head of Glaucoma Service of the University Eye Clinic at the San Giuseppe Hospital in Milan. The Glaucoma Service is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment offering computerized visual field testing, optic nerve imaging and retinal nerve fiber layers imaging.

Fields of interest and research of Dr Sacchi are early diagnosis of glaucoma and surgical approach including filtering procedures, tube-shunt implants and minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries.

Cataract surgery is also a sub specialty of Dr Sacchi and as cataracts occur frequently in patients with glaucoma, Dr. Sacchi also performs complex cataract procedures with patients who may have small pupils, psuedoexfoliation or monocular vision due to glaucoma or other conditions.

Dr Sacchi has a special interest in paediatric ophthalmology and is also involved in the care of children affected by paediatric glaucoma and keratoconus.

Dr Ranno’s special clinical interest is  ophthalmoplastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery of eyelid including  the full spectrum of lacrimal, eyelid and orbital reconstructive surgeries due to disease, injury, as well as orbital oncology, and thyroid-related eye conditions.

He is Head of Ophthalmic Plastic and Orbital Surgery Service of the University Eye Clinic at the San Giuseppe Hospital in Milan where he commonly perform procedures to address problems of the orbit, eyelids, tear drainage system, as well as orbital and adnexal tumors, congenital defects, and     fractures.

Procedures like eyelid repair following accidents and tissue destruction by skin cancers, orbital decompression for thyroid eye disease and treatment of clogged tear ducts are also performed by Dr. Ranno.

In addition Dr Ranno is specialized in Aesthetic and Cosmetic Treatments of the eyelid and mild face including blepharoplasty, botox treatment and filler.

Cataract surgery is routinely performed by Dr Ranno as well.

Dr Ranno and Dr Sacchi have authored research papers in international peer-reviewed  journals, and are reviewers for the European Journal of Ophthalmology. They are invited speakers at local and international ophthalmology meetings and they are involved in the Medical School Ophthalmology training program of the University of Milan.
